Tire Barn Warehouse, headquartered in Anderson, Ind., plans to sell the majority of company assets to Monro Muffler Brake Inc.
According to the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list, Tire Barn is the 34th largest independent tire dealer chain in the U.S. with 32 stores across Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee . Monro, headquartered in Rochester, N.Y., is fourth with 306 across the U.S. Monro plans to keep the Tire Barn name.
Tire Barn’s closing is scheduled for Nov. 19 and there will be “no change in basic store operations and very little change in store personnel,” according to a statement by Chris Jones, Tire Barn president and CEO.
Tire Barn is a family-owned tire business. It was founded in Anderson and Kokomo, Ind., by Everett and Iva Tate-Jones in the 1920s.
It was originally a petroleum distribution business. The company was incorporated and named Everybody’s Oil Corp. in January 1930. Iva and Everett’s son Arnold Jones joined the company after World War II, and son Chris Jones joined Tire Barn after graduating from college in 1977.
In the fall of 2007, Tire Barn divested itself of the retail gasoline outlets to concentrate on selling tires.
“I cannot thank our employees enough for their service to my family over the years,” Jones said in the press release. “The continued support of our employees and customers is what has kept us going the past 83 years, and I’m grateful to each one of them.”

Test Your Brake Fluid In 60 Seconds With Phoenix Brake Fluid Test Strips
Are you compromising the integrity and safety of your brakes? Don’t guess-test with Phoenix Systems BrakeStrips. These simple-to-use strips are not moisture or petroleum tests. BrakeStrip uses (or follows) MAP guidelines to identify bad brake fluid in 60 seconds. These innovative BrakeStrip testing strips identify the exact level of copper ions in your brake fluid–an early sign of corrosion and extremely damaging to your brake system. They’re easy to use; simply dip them in fluid, shake them off, and a minute later, match the test strip color with the included chart to see the level of copper in your brake fluid. BrakeStrip brake fluid test strips from Phoenix Systems are inexpensive safeguards to preserve your stopping power–aren’t you and your family worth it?
Did you know Phoenix Systems leads the industry in brake testing tools? They manufacture a patented reverse brake bleeder which is guaranteed to obliterate trapped air in seconds, immediately “firm up” any brake or clutch pedal, and get super fast and safe pedal response every time.
We have been doing some remodeling and are pleased to announce that we have redesigned our Brake Bleeder website at www.brakebleeder.com. We had a professional web design company called Innovation Simple go through and restructure how we were showcasing our patented products Brake Bleeder and Brake Strips.
On our new website we want to start showcasing more videos that quickly show the problems with not paying attention to brake fluid and bleeding your brakes. This website showcases the revolutionary tools for the providing the perfect brake job by using Brake Strips for testing the brake fluid and bleeding the brakes using Brake Bleeder.
The website is powered by a robust content management system (CMS) along with blogging capabilities that will allow us as a company to continually add and edit content on the fly. We would love to hear what you have to say about our new website so please feel free to leave a comment or suggestion below.
